Role Overview

About Us Cloudrx is a Dallas-based specialty pharmacy platform focused on fertility care. We build the technology infrastructure that powers how fertility pharmacies operate — from prescription workflows to patient-facing experiences. Our stack is intentionally lean: raw PHP 8.x, MySQL, AWS, and a front-end built on jQuery and Bootstrap 5. We don't use frameworks as a crutch. We write software that we understand completely, at every layer. About the Role We are hiring a Senior PHP Full-Stack Developer to own end-to-end feature development across our platform. This is not a role for developers who rely on Laravel or Symfony to structure their thinking. You will work directly with raw PHP 8.x — understanding request lifecycles, session management, memory management, autoloading, and OOP design at a fundamental level. If you need a framework to scaffold your architecture, this role is not the right fit. You will design and ship full-stack features independently: from ER diagrams and API contracts through to MySQL schema design, PHP business logic, AJAX-driven front-end interactions, and AWS deployment. You will also play a leadership role in how our team integrates AI-assisted development — setting standards, defining quality gates, and ensuring AI-generated code meets our security and correctness bar before it ever reaches production. What You'll Do - Build and maintain full-stack features in raw PHP 8.x using advanced language features: OOP, namespacing, traits, interfaces, typed properties, match expressions, and fibers where appropriate. - Design MySQL schemas from scratch — normalisation, indexing strategies, query optimisation, partitioning, and stored procedures engineered for high-traffic production workloads. - Build dynamic front-end interactions using jQuery, AJAX (Fetch API / XHR), and Bootstrap 5 following a progressive enhancement model. - Deploy, configure, and maintain AWS infrastructure including EC2, RDS (MySQL), S3, CloudFront, SQS, and IAM, with a strong emphasis on security best practices. - Write detailed functional requirements, technical design documents, ER diagrams, API contracts, and system flow diagrams before any development or AI-assisted generation begins — this is mandatory, not optional. - Lead the team's AI-assisted development practices: define prompting standards, build code review checklists, and enforce quality gates for AI-generated PHP code. - Own application security across every feature you ship: SQL injection, XSS, CSRF, session hijacking, and insecure direct object references are your responsibility to prevent. - Integrate third-party APIs, payment gateways, and webhook systems in a clean, resilient, and well-tested manner. - Automate repetitive development work — migration scripts, test scaffolding, API documentation, and deployment pipelines — using AI tooling to ship faster without sacrificing quality. Requirements - 5+ years of professional PHP development experience, with deep expertise in raw PHP 8.x (no framework dependency). - Advanced MySQL skills: schema design, indexing, query optimisation, stored procedures, and performance tuning. - Hands-on AWS experience across EC2, RDS, S3, SQS, CloudFront, and IAM. - Demonstrated production experience using AI coding tools (GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code, or equivalent) in a PHP environment — you ship faster because of AI, not recklessly. - You know exactly what AI gets wrong in PHP: improper PDO usage, weak session handling, missing input sanitisation, N+1 queries in loops, and broken object design — and you catch all of it in review. - Proficiency with jQuery, AJAX / Fetch API, Bootstrap 5, and modern HTML5 / CSS3. - Strong REST API design skills with documented API contracts. - Working knowledge of Composer, PHPUnit, Git, and GitHub Actions. - Experience with Redis or Memcached for caching and session management. - Comfortable on Linux / Bash, and capable of configuring Nginx or Apache. - You produce detailed technical documentation — ER diagrams, API contracts, system flow diagrams, annotated wireframes — before a single line of code is written. Nice to Have - Experience architecting multi-tenant SaaS applications from scratch. - ElasticSearch integration for full-text search at scale. - AWS CDK or Terraform for infrastructure as code. - WebSockets or long-polling for real-time feature development. - GraphQL API design alongside REST. What Success Looks Like You can take a feature from a written spec, produce a complete technical design document, prompt an AI tool to generate the controller logic, DB queries, and front-end AJAX handlers, and then validate that output is secure, tested, and production-ready — all without needing a framework to hold the structure together. You make the team around you faster and safer.
